Dr. Tarmizi Bin Ahmad Izzuddin delivered a captivating talk titled "AI Foundation Models and Its Applications: Unlocking The Potentials" at the Centre For Advance Analytics, Multimedia University (MMU) on November 20th, 2024. The talk delved into the fundamental concepts of foundation models, exploring their key characteristics, training methodologies, and diverse applications. Dr. Tarmizi shed light on the powerful technique of Self-Supervised Learning (SSL) and its significant role in natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision tasks. By highlighting the potential and limitations of SSL, the talk provided a comprehensive overview of the current state and future directions of foundation models in the field of artificial intelligence.

The workshop "AI at EDGE using Nvidia Jetson" delivered by Dr. Tarmizi Izzuddin focused on equipping participants with the skills to leverage the power of AI and deep learning on the NVIDIA Jetson Nano. The workshop covered essential topics such as setting up the development environment, understanding AI fundamentals, working with data, and developing a basic AI application. Additionally, participants explored advanced edge AI concepts, including object detection, segmentation, large language models, and vision language models, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the potential applications and capabilities of AI at the edge. Participants include from various Malaysian universities namely, University Technology Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia Multimedia University (MMU) and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)

Dr. Tarmizi Izzuddin and Dr.Norafizah Abbas, Mechatronic Engineering lecturers at FKE, UTeM, led a workshop on biosignal processing and classification using AI and deep learning. Designed for those with a foundation in signal processing and machine learning, the workshop provided participants with the skills to apply AI and deep learning techniques to biosignal classification.The workshop delved into real-world applications of biosignal classification, highlighting its importance in healthcare, sports, and other industries. Participants not only learned about the theoretical concepts but also gained practical experience through hands-on sessions.
